Hawkman's thoughts on the Hawks draft

Posted on: April 11, 2008 3:31 pm

I thought about putting out version 3 of the Hawkmans mock but would like it if someone was able to join me in a back and forth draft process so that another person can put their ideas down. So on to the Hawkmans ideas about what the Hawks might be doing.

One thing Hawks fans should be loving to see if pick 24 comes and goes is Brian Brohm still sitting on the board and the Falcons having not gone QB with their first pick. This would give the Hawks an amazing oppurtunity to trade down and collect multiple picks and still be able to tackle needs but in a better position. Would you rather see the Seahawks reach for a TE in the first or trade down and get that same TE for 2nd rnd money? Definetly the 2nd. This could also give the Hawks 3 2nd rnd picks.

On to the 2nd idea. If the Seahawks had stood pat this offseason and gone into the draft thinking and praying that Jonathan Stewart is going to fall into their laps how mad would the fan base be when we get a 2nd rnd prospect that dosent pan out when Stewart goes higher than expected? Julius Jones and T.J. Duckett are the insurance policy right now if he right RB dosent come to the Seahawks. I know many people who might have been upset if we simply went into another year hopping that Shaun Alexander regains his form and guys if Maurice Morris was the answer dont you think he would be getting more oppurtunities and wouldve been signed when he hit free agency a few years back by another team? You can say the Jones might be a Morris clone well at least hes a Morris clone with more game time expierience. All in all look for the Hawks to take a RB in the 2nd or 3rd rnd. Dont worry guys well get it done.

Mainly though this probably isnt going to be a sexy draft for the Hawks. Look for help along the d-line with somebig space eaters and some fresh blood along the o-line. If a player the Hawks like at WR is around later in the draft look for them to take a stab there.

No need to fret folks just stay positive.

Hawkman's thoughts on the Hawks draft

Not even close hawkman. The seahawks had the worst draft of the year. Owen Schmidt....a good Fullback. (Def. not a RB.) Who is Justin Forsett?? Maybe we'll find out one day. Probablly not. They did pick a TE in the 2nd, but they swung and missed with that guy from ND. There's a reason ND lost 100 games this year.

Hawkman's thoughts on the Hawks draft

We didnt draft a HB because we got julius and T.J in the offseason, and the tight end from ND is well rounded and has good hands, Justin Forsett had a quit but productive 1,500 yard rushing season last year and the hawks still got him in the 7th round. Lawrence Jackson is a good runstopper and will push Darryl Tapp,  your right hawkman.

Hawkman's thoughts on the Hawks draft

Yes close, The seahawks nabbed John Carlson in the Second Round, he is a well rounded player with good hands, Lawrence Jackson Will push Darryl Tapp and is a good runstopper. Justin Forsett is a good enough underated RB with good production,Brandon Coutu has a powerful leg, Owen Schmitt is a great fullback, red Bryant is another runstopper who is Huge, and Tyler Schmitt is a good enough longsnapper to be drafted in the 6th round, I agree with Hawkman.
